Job Summary:

EBO MD is seeking a meticulous and dedicated pharmacy technician to join our team at the Cape Girardeau location of EBO MD. The pharmacy technician will play a crucial role in ensuring our patients receive the highest quality care through the accurate preparation and dispensing of medications. This position involves working closely with healthcare providers and patients to support efficient pharmacy operations and deliver excellent customer service. This role fully supports the direct primary care (DPC) approach to patient care.

  • Accurately prepare and process prescription and refill requests in a timely manner.
  • Dispense medications to patients as per prescriptions and healthcare provider’s orders.
  • Pack and label prescribed medications, ensuring that all information is correct and visible.
  • Track and manage pharmacy inventory, including conducting regular inventory audits and ordering supplies as needed.
  • Prepare injectable compounded medications following precise instructions and safety protocols.
  • Provide outstanding customer service, addressing patient inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy.
  • Accurately count prescription medications and ensure correct dosages are dispensed.
  • Assist in the filling of prescriptions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Type and attach medication labels to containers, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Detail-Oriented: Keen eye for detail, ensuring accuracy in medication preparation and dispensing.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills, able to interact effectively with healthcare professionals and patients.
  • Customer Service: Proven experience in delivering high-quality customer service in a healthcare setting.
  • Computer Proficiency: Competent in using pharmacy software and other computer applications.
  • Math Proficiency: Strong mathematical skills for calculating dosages and preparing prescriptions.
  • Fast-Paced Work Environment: Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Safety Adherence: Ability to follow safety procedures meticulously to ensure compliance with health regulations.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience as a pharmacy technician or similar role within a pharmacy setting preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and move around the pharmacy to perform various tasks
  • Clear vision for reading prescriptions, medication labels, and interpreting physician’s orders
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
